| How To . . . Photo
Building a model plane is a lot of fun, but it can be intimidating to someone who hasn't tried it. You can make it easier with a photo How To essay.
|You know someone who knows how to do something they could help someone else to do. Maybe this is building model planes. Maybe it is baking cakes.|
Here's an example of instructions for making a cake from
using nine pictures and instructions LINK
|Maybe it is making an awesome peanut butter and jelly sandwich.|

| That is what this project is
about, using photos and instructions to teach the
secrets of doing something or making something. The
project is actually an illustrated "How To Do It"
essay. As an essay it should have a
beginning, middle, and end.
The essay begins with an establishing shot showing the materials needed for making the product or using the skill.
The middle is made up of the illustrated steps in making the product or using the skill.
The end is a picture of the finished product or skill in use.
Both the sample photo essays have a beginning, middle, and end.
For this Project find someone who knows how to do something that they can teach others. Take pictures as they demonstrate their skill. You should plan to take at least 8 pictures including an establishing shot of the materials needed and a final shot of the finished product or skill in use.
The pictures showing the steps in making the product or using the skill should include close-ups of details and medium shots of some of the steps.
You should also take some of the pictures at camera angles that show the step or details or final product at the level of the item as in the example pictures above. All your picture should not be taken from above.
Your final product for this project is a slide show with the pictures you've taken AND instructions for making the product or preforming the skill. The slides that include pictures should have a single picture and instructions or caption. You can include additional slides that are instructions only.
Make it pretty. You are trying to make the photo essay interesting to the reader.
Due date is February 8.
